Kodaikanal Hotels

      Kodaikanal is one of most important hill resorts in South India.  Verdant hills and cool climes are the main attractions.  Ample trekking opportunity at least 2-3 days, more if you want to trek in the hills. Set among the gently sloping Palani Hills is the charming retreat of Kodaikanal, also called Kodai (6900 feet above see level).  This is one of India’s most beautiful hill stations frequented by tourists in large number right through the year.  The pride of Kodaikanal is the Kurinji flower which blossoms once in 12 years.

Kodaikanal Lake

     This magnificent star-shaped (Man made – 48 acres) lake is a ready attraction as it is set among the greenery.  The boat club here offers several pleasure and racing trips.

Brayan Park

      This park is noted for flowers, birds and rafts.  The annual horticultural show is held here in May.

Coaker’s Walk

     About 1 km from the lake it drives the name from Lt. Coaker who prepared the map of Kodai.  Some of the best views of the plains can be seen from here.  There is telescope house.

Perumal Peak

     The 2,440 meters high peak is 11 km from Kodaikanal on the ghat Rd to Madurai.

Green Valley View

     Green Valley View is about 5.5 km from the lake and very near the golf club. Originally this was called the suicide point. 7000 feet above see level.

Telescope Houses

     To enable the visitors to have a panoramic view of the valley and the nearby towns, two telescope houses have been put up at Kodai.

Pillar Rocks

     About 7 km from the lake.  Three boulders stand shoulder to shoulder vertically measuring to a height of about 122 meters providing beautiful view.

Kurunji Andavar Temple

     Picturesquely located about 3.2 km from the lake.  The temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga.

Observatory

     This lies at the topmost point in Kodai (850 feet above the lake). The observatory is used mainly for research in meteorology and solar physics.

Bear Shola Falls

     About 1.6 km from the lake.  An ideal picnic spot.  The final approach is by a picturesque, ragged hill path.

Silver Cascade

     This waterfall is located on the Ghat Road and is about 8 km from Kodaikanal.

Shenbaganur Museum

     5.5 km from the lake.  This flora and fauna museum, maintained by the Sacred Heart College, is worth a visit.  Also located here is one of the best orchidery in the country.

Dolphine Nose

     A precarious rock formation 8 km from the bus stand.  This flat rock 2000 meters above sea level projects over a yawning chasm.  To peer down from this rock call for steel nerves.

Berijam Lake

     This is one of the beautiful spots of Kodai.  21 km from Kodai bus stand this lake supplies drinking water to Periakalam town.  The scenery around here is delightful.
